Charlottetowne Hops FC - the Queen City's Hoppiest soccer club and only National Premier Soccer League member - is excited to announce Charlie Delmar as the club’s first General Manager.
The club, launched in February by cofounders Casey Carr, Michael Hitchcock, and Matt Spear to bring the world’s most popular game and the world’s most popular beverage together to create a special community driven soccer club for Charlotte welcomes Delmar to lead the club in into its second season.
"I am grateful to Casey, Hitch and Matt for allowing me to help lead the club into our second season. And as one of the club’s original investor-owners, I have a lot of pride and passion for the club’s growth."
Charlie's soccer DNA includes playing as a youth/collegiate player and coaching with Tampa Bay United and Charlotte Soccer Academy. On the business development side, Charlie has experience in ticket sales, sponsorship, and marketing for organizations such as Orlando City Soccer Club and IMG Academy. And Charlie is the Vice President of Media Talent at ProSport Management, primarily working with soccer broadcasters and influencers on contract negotiations, network relationships, brand partnerships,
"My background includes working with professional soccer players and broadcasters at the highest level, down to coaching aspiring youth players in the community. I have lived in Charlotte since March of 2019 and am very excited about the growing fandom of our sport here from the grassroots and youth and school levels up through the super clubs like CSA and extending up to Charlotte FC."
As the club’s General Manager, Delmar hops in to further develop the Hops FC brand and add to its growing list of incredible partnerships in the Charlotte region.
"In the offseason I and grassroots marketing staffers will be present at community events such as soccer gatherings at our localbrewery partners like Middle James Brewery, Petty Thieves, and Lost Worlds, youth soccer events and more. If you want to help in that effort or want us to come to you, please let me know.”
Fan engagement and game day experience are a crucial focus for our club and what makes soccer, and Hops home games so much fun and inclusive.
"I have been fortunate to enjoy games at many levels and in multiple countries - including this Fall in Germany, One of the greatest advantages of a community driven semi pro soccer league like the NPSL is that the tickets are very affordable, parking is free and right next to the field, you can sit really close to the pitch, you can interact with the players, coaches, staff, owners - plus we provide incredible local craft beer and food too. It’s just really accessible and fan friendly for families, soccer aficionados and folks wanting to be outside together with a tasty beverage. For our second season, we have some really exciting and fun things planned to make our Hops game day experience even better than last season. It’s going to be really fun!"
